Mediation Services
The Family Consultants and Mediation Services group includes registered Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) practitioners who provide timely, cost-effective and child-focused mediation services. Our experienced mediators will assist resolution of parenting and property disputes by encouraging parties to communicate respectfully and develop their own solutions, thereby retaining control over the outcome.
A mediation facilitated by FCMS can assist parties with a range of issues, including:
- Responsibility for decisions about children's needs
- Establishing co-operative parenting arrangements for the future
- Developing a detailed parenting plan
- The division of assets and liabilities
We will:
- Provide an alternative to adversarial Court proceedings, which are costly, stressful and time-consuming
- Encourage parties to focus on children's needs, best interests and rights
- Provide a child-inclusive process when appropriate
- Maintain confidentiality as outlined under the Family Law Act
- Issue 60I certificates
- Include legal practitioners if requested
60I Certificates:
Should parties be unable to resolve their conflict through mediation, and wish to apply to the Court for a parenting order, a 60I certificate is needed from a registered Family Dispute Resolution practitioner. This certificate is issued to the parties after the mediation, to confirm that an attempt at Family Dispute Resolution has been made.
